Construction phase
Pool Construction — Deck & Surround Build
The build stage of a surround project: footings, framing and decking around your pool, from the Standard and Premium service tiers.
This page covers the construction stage of the Standard Poolside Deck Build and Premium Landscaped Surround Package — the work that happens once a Deck Design Consultation has fixed the plan. We do not pour, shell or plumb the pool itself; our crew builds the decking and landscaping that frames it, coordinating around any pool-shell contractor's schedule when a pool is newly going in.
Construction starts with laying out footing positions against the plan drawn at the consultation, then moves through framing, decking and, where the grade calls for it, a railing section. Each stage is checked against the written quote before the next one begins, so the finished surround matches what was agreed rather than what was easiest to build.
Materials for your build are ordered once the quote is signed, timed to arrive the day footings are set so lumber and decking don't sit exposed to weather on site any longer than necessary.
01What the build covers
The list below reflects what ships with both the Standard and Premium tiers; the Premium package adds the planting and pathway work described on the Services page on top of this foundation.
- Footing layout set to the pool perimeter and local frost depth
- Frame built to carry the decking load across the full span
- Composite or wood decking surface installed and trimmed
- Railing added wherever the grade drop calls for one
- Step-edge placement matched to how the pool is entered
- A final walkthrough before the crew leaves site
02Where we build
Construction crews are based on Lakeshore Road and travel across the surrounding region for each project. Because framing and footing work depends on weather and ground conditions, we schedule builds in blocks and confirm the start date once the quote is approved.
A typical property on Lakeshore Road has enough side-yard access for material delivery without disturbing existing landscaping; we check access during the consultation and plan the build sequence around it.
Spring and early summer are our busiest construction windows, since most homeowners want the surround finished before pool season starts; booking a consultation in late winter usually secures the earliest build slot. Later-season builds still go ahead through the fall, with footing depth adjusted for cooler ground conditions.
Crew size on a given project usually runs three to four people, which keeps a standard build moving through its stages without the schedule stretching out over multiple unrelated weeks, even during our busiest months of the year.
03Construction questions
Do I need a permit for the deck?
Decks above a certain height or attached to the house usually need a municipal building permit; we confirm what applies to your property and prepare the application with you.
Can the build start before the pool shell is finished?
No — footings and framing are set once the shell and backfill around the pool are complete, so the deck sits on stable, settled ground.
How long does a Premium package take on site?
The Premium Landscaped Surround Package typically adds two to four working days to the Standard build for planting beds, pathway stone and lighting rough-in.
What happens if unexpected site conditions turn up?
If a footing hole reveals rock or unexpectedly soft ground, we pause and discuss the adjustment with you in writing before continuing, so any added cost is agreed rather than assumed.
